Manoj Sharma’s thoughts on Einstein & Tagore’s Dialogue

December 27, 2006

The dialogue between Einstein and Tagore seems to have generated considerable dialogue and response. One commonality among your emails was to request my thoughts on it. Well, here are my thoughts on it, plus some others. I trust you will find them invigorating and as ever I look forward to yours.

1) While there are infinite possibilities in human life, every human being is compelled towards their destiny. This destiny while having an element of predetermination is very much open to the forces of self or others’ influence and choice. These influences and choices takes place within a spectrum. A spectrum that while narrow, could also be wide (keeping in mind that everything is relative). It is within this spectrum that a human being has the ability to design their destiny. Design it, but never in conflict with a preordained personality, character and cause.

2) The influences and choices create a new cause that sets of a new effect that starts to intermingle with the existing causes and effects creating a “new direction”.

3) Everything is in order regardless of whether you can discern the order or not.

4) There is room for expression in this order and the limits of expression are both limited and limitless depending entirely on how you perceive the situation and excercise influence.

5) There are principles on which everything operates and the better your appreciation of these principles and ability to work with them the more powerful your creative ability.

6) There are world’s within world’s and there is no bottom to the pit or ceiling to the sky. These world’s have infinite textures, layers and perutations that are too vast for the mind to grasp. So they are best experienced.

7) The height of experience is to appreciate the experiencer’s experience and appreciate who or what is experiencing the experiencer.

Also here is my favourite Rabindranath Tagore quote.

“Let your life lightly dance on the edges of time like dew on the tip of a leaf.”
