What Is Success & The First Principle Of Life by Manoj Sharma

April 22, 2009

If success is anything, it is to impact your world, and all that it includes, and leave it in a better shape after your passing than before your birth!

By that simple definition how many people can truly claim to have lived a successful life?

Isn’t it time we rethought our definition of success and lived our lives purposefully in relation to it?

It follows that the first principle of life should therefore be the same as the famed Hippocratic Oath… “First do no harm!”

Surviving The Downturn – A Strategic Check For Your Organization By Manoj Sharma

April 15, 2009

Whatever the industry you’re in, did you build contingencies into your plan? In an economic landscape where some of the top brand names have collapsed and many still are awaiting their demise, how is your organization doing?

Are you surviving or are your succeeding against all odds?

In an erratic marketplace the bears still seem to be at the reigns. Problems, issues, difficulties, obstacles and challenges are everywhere, whatever the names you choose to give to them. Sure, with every crisis come a plethora of opportunities. What people often have an oversight on is that with every opportunity for reward there is an equal risk asking to be taken on as well.

Whether this downturn is long or prolonged the short of it is that its repercussions will be felt for at least a decade; if not in multiple forms, then at the very least in terms of the tightening of the international regulatory environment.

The question is will we learn from his economic mess we’ve created and not repeat it?

Sadly, if history has taught us anything, it is that we rarely learn from history.

Keeping that in mind…

  • Have you made your organization more agile?
  • Are you leaner, meaner, more active, lively and acutely aware?
  • Have you trimmed the fat, let go of the excess and kicked out the non-performers?
  • Have you identified your strengths, ironed out your weaknesses such that you know where your greatest opportunities lie?
  • Have you clarified your value proposition and do you know what your customers are looking for?
  • Have you actively reduced your cost structure, streamlined your operations are you focusing on what matter?
  • Have you figured out what will increase revenue, boost margins and give you a competitive edge?
  • Have you shifted resources, changed strategy and decided on some bold new moves?
  • Have your accurately calculated and re-calculated your financial strength such that you know for how long you can weather the storm?

If you haven’t you need to do so and do so fast.

If history has taught us anything it is that the future does not belong to those who haven’t learned from their past.
